In an era when we’re all crying out for lighter, less complicated, more fuel efficient cars (at a moderately affordable price) here’s the model enthusiasts have surely been waiting for: the new Caterham Seven 160. Despite developing just 80bhp from its turbocharged 660cc Suzuki engine, the Seven 160 will scamper to 60mph in just 6.5sec. Read on for the full spec of this hero of downsizing.
The Hyundai HND-9 is a concept coupe from Hyundai, heading for the Seoul Motor Show at the end of March, and probably previews the next Genesis Coupe. The Hyundai HND-9 is, according to Hyundai, the ‘Latest luxury sports coupe’, which we assume means the HND-9 is pointing at the next generation Genesis Coupe, a car we don’t (yet) get in the UK. The HND-9 gets an evolution of Hyundai’s fluidic design (although, unlike the latest Santa Fe where Hyundai decided the new design was called ‘Storm’, the HND-9′s design doesn’t get a name) which Hyundai say is a modern reinterpretation of an elegant classic premium sports coupe.
We've had our first taste of the drive system under development for General Motors' pioneering Chevrolet Volt, piloting a test mule based on the Chevrolet Cruze at the company's Warren (Mich.) Technical Center, and it left us hungering for more. Yes, it's an electric car, but mostly, it's a car--one you could imagine driving every day without feeling as if you were engaged in a lab experiment. Frank Weber, vehicle line executive for the Volt, gets his nose out of joint if you call the drive system a hybrid.
